Salary:£38,000 - £42,000 depending on experience
Contract: Fixed term to end-February 2021 (possible extension to end of Feb 2022).
Hours: 37.5 per week (4 day week pro rata would be considered for an exceptional candidate)
Reports to: Director, Illuminated River Foundation
Responsible for: No staff management responsibilities
Location: St James’s Place, London

Purpose and Scope

This is an opportunity to contribute to the success of the next phase of what aims to be the largest public art project in the world, ensuring it is inclusive, innovative and follows best practice. The Project Officer role supports the Director and project team to facilitate key aspects of this complex project, with a particular focus on community and stakeholder engagement and liaison with the artist’s team and funders. Following the successful launch of the artwork on the first four bridges of Phase One, we are now working on Phase Two and towards illumination of another five bridges in Autumn 2020. As Project Officer you will help shape the programme of public engagement and interpretation for the future while learning from the experience of our current events and activities around Phase One.

Responsibilities

Areas of responsibility include:

  • Building, developing and managing relationships with key partners and stakeholders
  • Developing and managing a programme of community engagement, public interpretation, events and activities on the next phase of bridges (working with our community engagement agency)
  • Liaise with the artist and his team: regular conference calls, providing support on UK visits including, arranging access on site during his sequencing of the artwork.
  • Researching and producing materials for fundraising and reports to existing funders
  • Promoting this programme with effective communications. Developing evaluation and monitoring for the project.
  • Supporting online and social media communications (in conjunction with partners and retained creative agency)
  • Event management (for example, talks and public tours)
  • Contributing materials for the website
  • Liaising with our communication consultants and other key consultants and team members
